This
paper aims to explore the different levels of leadership that exist in the
army. The levels of leadership in the army are divided into three categories: strategic,
direct, and organizational (Schoomaker, 2007). The determination of the levels
of leadership depends on various factors, including types of operations
conducted by the different units, unit size, degree of influence of the leader,
headquarters level, and control span. Strategic leadership levels involve DA
(Department of the Army) and civilian leaders in the military that control
various major command levels in connection with the leadership of the
department of defense. The role of the strategic leaders in the army is to
control the large organizations and influence various large groups of
individuals. These leaders establish the structure and size of the force as
well as allocate the necessary resources to facilitate communication of the
strategic vision and preparation of appropriate commands to handle future
responsibilities (Sengoz, 2020). Also, the strategic leaders consider the
entire environment that relates to the functions of the army. They consider
various aspects such as , research and development,
acquisitions of new systems, congressional hearings, civilian programs, and
budgetary constraints.

Organizational
leadership in the army commands various thousands of people. The level of
command is indirect, and this is problematic for them to find the desired
results. In many cases, organizational leaders use subordinate officers to
assist in managing the resources allocated to the organization (Stanton and
Jackson, 2021). They are accountable for establishing appropriate policies that
determine the organizational culture and working climate. The skills of the
organizational leaders are similar to those of direct leaders, but they have to
deal with high uncertainty, unintentional consequences, and complexities. Also,
they experience reduced interpersonal contact command of the brigades and the
file and rank soldiers. Their main role is to focus on the development mission
and .

The
direct leadership level in the army maintains face-face leadership. The
subordinates can access their leaders anytime within the team, company,
battalion, squad, or platoon levels ( Sengoz, 2020). The direct leader commands
a smaller group of people compared to strategic and organizational leadership
levels. Such a leader has a direct influence on the subordinates. Sometimes,
the direct leader can and subordinate officers to guide
the company. It is easy for the personnel to know what works and what does not
work and find ways of handling the challenges through direct leadership.
