The Difference between Us
One significant difference between us (human beings) is our culture. Culture refers to a particular communitys way of life, including its ideas, customs, and behaviors (Yu & Pirnazarov, 2020). Each individual belongs to a community with distinct beliefs, values, and practices. As individuals, we believe in different things, and our values are unique depending on our culture. For example, in Indian culture, girls must remain virgins until they get married. The issue of virginity is taken so seriously that a girl can be banished from her community if it is discovered that she has lost her virginity without marriage. Thus, one difference between us is our cultural beliefs and values.
The second difference between us is our race. Race refers to a category of people that share specific distinctive physical characteristics. Each individual belongs to a particular race. Examples of different races include white, African American, Asian, American Indian, and Pacific Islander. It is easy to identify ones race by simply looking at their physical appearance. Race differentiates us and makes us unique.
The third difference between us is our religious beliefs. The world has several religions, and every individual chooses the religion they want to practice. , Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and ethicists. Some people believe in God or a higher being, while others believe in science. Religion differentiates one individual from another. For instance, it is easy to distinguish a Muslim woman from a crowd because of her dressing. Also, each religion has distinct beliefs, values, and codes of conduct that members must subscribe to. Thus, a person may behave differently because of their religious beliefs. For example, a devoted Muslim can pray up to five times a day while a . Therefore, religious beliefs make a difference between us.
Lastly, the difference between us is our gender identity. Every individual identifies with a particular gender. The different gender identities include male, female, transgender, gender-neutral, and non-binary. It is easy to tell which gender an individual identifies with by how they dress, their behavior, and the partners they are attracted to. Each person has the right to choose the gender they believe fits them well. Gender identity is a major differentiating factor among human beings. Gender is one of the most used identifiers in national statistics pertaining to various items such as the prevalence of diseases and income disparities.
