The Proposal Assignment

Requirements:

The problem to be addressed and why it is significant.

The purpose of the proposed study

An initial review of the literature related to the selected research topic, sufficient to inform the researcher of what is, and is not, known about the topic. For this assignment use the information found in your Annotated Bibliography and any other you discovered.

An initial set of research question(s) and hypotheses, as appropriate

Anticipated research methodology (Quantitative or Qualitative) and design which includes:

population and ,

procedures and measures,

hypotheses (if appropriate),

type of data to be collected

level of significance, and

statistical tests and/or trustworthiness options;

Concluding remarks concerning the research potential

Your proposal should be 1900 words. Be sure to completely address each bullet point. There should be six sections, one for each bullet point. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas in your proposal with at least five (5) citations from the text and . Make sure to reference the citations using the for the proposal. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount.

IMPORTANT NOTES FROM PROFESSOR: Your research question might be: R1: How do individuals who live in a city and are clinically obese describe their daily habits, behaviors, and routines?

For this question you would gather data through focus groups OR interviews.

OR R1: What are the lived experiences of individuals who live in a city and are clinically obese?

You would gather data here through observations and interviews.

Be sure to craft your purpose statement as in inquiry as opposed to a means to create change, or advocate for an outcome. E.g. The purpose of this study is to examine the lived experiences of individuals who live in a city and are clinically obese. The purpose statement should also summarize how the study will be conducted-sample size and composition, data collection and analysis procedures.
