Who is Jesus Christ, and What was his Mission?
Jesus Christ is the of God and the savior of the world. The him after the holy spirit had come upon her. Jesus was born in Nazareth, where he lived with his mother, Mary, and his father, Joseph, the carpenter. Jesus lived fully as a man even though he was fully God. He allowed himself to be limited by the laws of this world until he could fulfill his mission. Throughout his life, Jesus took upon many identities. He was a healer as he went around healing all the sick people he met. He was a teacher who taught the word of God with humility. Jesus was a prophet who foretold what would happen in the future. According to John 8:12, Jesus is the light of the world (, 2017). Those who follow him live in the light, and their lives are no longer covered by darkness.
Jesus’ mission was to bring salvation to human beings. He came to seek out the lost and those deep in sin so that he could save them by grace. When God created Adam and Eve, he meant for them to be a family whereby they could have a relationship and enjoy each other’s company. However, Adam and Eve sinned against God, which caused a separation between them as God is holy and cannot be associated with sin. From that moment, human beings were alienated from God, and because God still loved them, he came up with a plan for their salvation.
Jesus is the person who God would use to save human beings and restore them to him. God sent him to the world to die for man’s sin so that man could finally be reconciled to God and they could have a relationship. His mission was to bring the message of hope to the poor, captives and the sick. He taught about God’s love to the prostitutes, tax collectors, and all those who followed him. He performed many miracles to demonstrate the power and love of God. Jesus’ mission led to his death on the cross. He was betrayed, despised and crucified. His death atoned for man’s sin, and all those who believed in him received their salvation.
