and patient outcomes (Troseth, 2017). Communities, families, patients, and
various healthcare personnel achieve healthcare objectives (Speakman, 2016).
Interprofessional education and collaboration culminate in enhanced access to
healthcare. Such approaches are also instrumental in boosting coordination
between healthcare stakeholders involved in the decision-making framework (Kaini,
2017). Interprofessional education, teamwork, and collaboration are fundamental
in the prudent use of resources. In this regard, healthcare managers use human
resources per healthcare needs (Okpala, 2017). Collaborative practice is also
anchored on robust legal and regulatory frameworks outlining professional
competencies (Pajalich, 2019). By applying this model, palliative,
rehabilitative, curative, and preventive health services are improved by
healthcare managers.Proper
communication between personnel involved in various sectors is vital in
sustaining resilient plans and transitions of care.

Collaborative practice and teamwork are also supported
through budget setting and proper financial planning. The integration of
education opportunities and programs in collaborative practice is fundamental
in improving clinical outcomes in communities. Proper communication skills are
essential when different healthcare professionals have to work with communities
(McEuen, 2020). This paper explores and critically analyses teamwork,
interprofessional collaboration, and its importance in various healthcare
sectors.The paper also
analyses various factors affecting teamwork, such as resilience and
communication. Unearthing such factors role in interprofessional framework is
important in understanding dynamics shaping collaborative practice.

Teamwork

Based on the NMC Code (2018), healthcare professionals
can achieve teamwork by respecting colleagues’ contributions, expertise, and
skills. Such teamwork transcends collaboration in one profession.Teamwork can be defined as
combined efficient and effective group action to achieve a common goal (Weiss
et al., 2016).For example, a cardiologist should work together with
nurses and support staff to improve patient outcomes (Layland, 2018). From this
perspective, it emerges that no healthcare professional can achieve patient and
clinical outcomes singlehandedly.

Healthcare
professionals should keep about care, patient
safety, referrals, and other aspects of healthcare whose success is embedded in
teamwork(., 2016). The NMC Code (2018) also stipulates that
personnel support their colleagues, especially staff members grappling with
performance and health problems. Therefore teamwork is about caring about all
people involved in delivering services to the people. Teamwork enhances success
in projects (Kaya, 2016). Different agencies, health insurance companies, and
government representatives can work together to achieve the intended
objectives.

In , teamwork is needed for a
variety of reasons. Considering that clinical care has become more specialised
and complex over the years, there is a need to work together. The increasing
prevalence of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes
have necessitated a multidisciplinary approach. Managing such conditions
requires people to work together (Dahl & Crawford, 2017). Dealing with
diverse populations with different healthcare needs also requires healthcare
teams to work together.
